This silo belongs to a friend of mine. He hobby farms. When I bug Jay that he should remove the silo tree ring as he’ll have a perfectly tall straight tree, he says if he did that, the tree wouldn’t be strong enough and would fall over with the first wind that came along. Given the tree circumference, as well as its protected environment the tree is actually small and because it hasn’t had to withstand directional wind, it wouldn’t be able to stay up and support itself. It changed how I looked at this tree, instead of trapped, it is protected. This farm deceased silo is keeping it safe, harboring it as it stretches to the sunshine, branching out on top.
Revelation 2:7 says: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
It reeks of life lessons we can learn from this tree’s situation:
•We are weak like the tree, only able to branch upward with God’s grace and guidance. Without him we too will fall. He is the Silo holding us.
•Despite its poor condition having to struggle for the sunshine and water, it still grew. Despite our trials in life, we too grow ~ because of them.
•This tree has silo community. We have community with our faith family; they support and encourage us to grow as Christians.
•This tree’s destiny is unknown. Jay may take the silo down, or a storm may blow it down. Either way, it lives day to day not knowing its future. We too live one day at a time with our destiny in God’s hand. I don’t know if I’ll die in a car crash today, get sick tomorrow with something terminal or live to be a 100+. None of us know from day to day when God will call us home, but he will call us.

Nice lesson on perspective. What you thought was harmful was really doing something good. How like that we are in our daily lives. We don't always have the big picture. Have a blessed day!
I love this post and pic! I like to picture God's arms around me, supporting me in a loving way. The idea of the silo makes that image even stronger. I recall seeing trees like this while living in MO. Thank you for sharing this. Hugs to you and your family.
